About Janet Sutanto

 

Janet is a visual artist, teacher, and mother of two young boys from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  She has a passion for abstract expressionist painting, particularly in mixed media.

She completed a Bachelors of Education with a Fine Art Minor at the University of Alberta and trained in mixed media techniques at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design.

 

Her paintings are full of texture using acrylic, gels, and collage.  Her works are visually exciting, capable of engaging the eye, but also giving the viewer a feeling of hope, joy and peace. 

 

"Painting to me is a feeling; a way to express my emotions, thoughts, and words, through texture, shape and color.  Painting is therefore something I do with my heart, not with my mind."

 

Janet's current works are inspired by landscapes, florals, and her Christian faith. 

She hopes her painting will bring the viewer to reflect and appreciate the beauty all around us.
